Charmaine Love - Fashion and Graphic Designer

Charmaine Love of Ngati Porou descent is a self taught fashion and graphic designer hailing from Wellington, Aotearoa.

Charmaine has a passion for showcasing the beauty and culture of Maori art & design to the world. With over 20 years design experience, Charmaine draws inspiration for for her pieces from traditional and contemporary Maori artwork and imagery.

Previous experience has seen her win the New Zealand Pasifika Fashion Design Awards, showcase her line at Air New Zealand Fashion Week three times and work as the Principle Designer for Kia Kaha Clothing since 1995.

 

Jeff Bryan - MasterCarver

Jeff is of Ngāti Raukawa and Te Atihaunui-a-Paparangi descent with both Māori and Scottish heritage.

Jeff has been carving for more than 20yrs and was tutored by Master Carvers John Mutu and Tim Wraight at Te Āwhina Marae in Motueka.

Their Tohunga or Great Master was Hone Te Kauru Taiapa or John Taiapa of Ngāti Porou descent. In 1966 John Taiapa was appointed as first master carver at the Rotorua Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. John Mutu is Tohunga Whakairo or resident Master Carver at Te Āwhina Marae.

Jeff assisted John in carving Onetahua Marae in Takaka and worked with Tim on a 10 meter Waka named Te Matangi

These days Jeff is based in Norsewood where he is resident artist at the Hovding Gallery at NZ Natural Clothing. He has completed numerous commission works and is skilled in many styles of carving often incorporating Celtic designs in his work.

Jeff is the principal designer of our MasterCarver series of Bone carvings.

 

Rebecca Downing - Bachelor of Design

Rebecca was born and bred in the beautiful Wairarapa Valley and grew up on a small lifestyle block on the outskirts of town. Rebecca was creative from a young age and pursuing a career in design was an obvious choice. After completing her Bachelor of Design degree at the Wellington School of Design, Rebecca worked as a designer in retail before heading for the bright lights of Sydney to expand her knowledge as a designer. She gained extensive experience in various industries including media & publishing before returning to the Wairarapa to work at NZ Dimensionz as principal jewellery and product designer.

Rebecca's work can be seen in many of our products and feature New Zealand themed influences such as native birds and plants.
